About approximately 100 years ago, one of the last volcanic eruptions took place on the island giving rise to an extremely beautiful, large monument which, as years went by, has not been changed considerably by human hand. Perhaps this explains why in this lavascape, there are the best colonies of Canary Islands chat (Saxícola dacotiae) among splurge (Euphorbia obtusifolia), gorse (Launaea arborescens), kleinia (Kleinia neriifolio) and lichen.
